In a list dominated by Nigerian entertainers a clear indication how the music industry requires a combination of brains and talent this explains why the Nigerians have sustained their continental dominance.

Naeto C.
Naeto C, born Naetochukwu chikwe is a Texas born Nigerian rapper, producer and Afro beat artist. Known for his 10 over 10 hit which clearly stated that he is the only ‘Mc with an Msc’Naeto C schooled at the prestigious Atlanta Hall secondary school in Lagos before moving to the United States  to further his education in SUNY Old Westbury and later to The George Washington University to study Bachelor of Science in Biology.

It was during his days in the states that his career took off after meeting Uzikwendu, Ikechwukwu and an upcoming New York artist. They formed the world famous Akademy record label, which was the foundation of his music career as it was later signed by Storm Records after they heard their material on radio.Upon graduation in 2004, Naeto intended to further his studies with an intention of becoming a medical doctor, although he later changed his mind and decided to nurture his talent as a musician and grow his brand.
However, in 2010 Naeto went back to school this time round to pursue a Masters in Energy Studies at the University of Dundee, Scotland.

Koffi Olomide.
Koffi Olomide, real name Antoine Christophe Agbepa Mumba is a Congolese professional dancer, singer, producer and a composer.
The controversial artist is not only known for numerous assaults but also for his wits when it comes to brain work, as he has been described as “a very bright student” by his teachers and classmates.
Olomide holds a Bachelors degree in Business Economics from Bordeaux France, and a Masters degree In Mathematics from the University of Paris.
Koffi Olomide is an accomplished musician and  entrepreneur/businessman with a net worth of a approximately $18 million.

L. A. X.
Born Damilola Afolabi, LAX is a 25 year old Nigerian rapper and singer. He was a part of the Flyboiz group which he formed alongside fellow colleagues back in high school.
He attended Turkish International School for his secondary school education and later moved to the UK for further studies.
LAX holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Salford university in Manchester and also pursued a Masters from the same institution.

2 Face.
2face or 2Baba, real name Innocent Ujah Idibia is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and a producer.
2Baba attended Mount Saint Gabriel’s secondary school in Benue state. He later did a National Diploma course in Business Administration at Institute of management and Technology in Enugu. He would later drop out of the school to pursue music.

It was while at IMT that he started composing and performing at shows, parties and school organized events, it was also at this point that he met Blackface and Faze, together they formed Plantashun Boyz. They would later disband the group for each artist to pursue their solo careers.

2face was presented with an honorary Masters degree, Arts in Music from Igbinedion University by the founder of the University Gabriel Igbinedion on 10th May 2016.
He is one of the most accomplished and bankable artists in Africa.

Dr. SID.
Sidney Onoriode Esiri known professionally as Dr Sid is a Nigerian songwriter and a singer. He was born Urhobo, Delta state in Nigeria but grew up in Lagos.
Dr Sid went to the Nigerian Air Force secondary school before proceeding to the University of Ibadan where he pursued a degree in Dental surgery. As a professional doctor, Dr Sid worked at Lagos University Teaching Hospital, he also worked at several dental clinics.
During this time he was combining both dentistry and music, however, in 2007 he decided to quit dentistry to concentrate more on his music career. He would later get signed by Don Jazzy’s  Mo’ Hits Records where he featured on the Mo’ Hits all stars collective album.

Dr SID has accomplished much in music but has also starred in a Nigerian movie, ‘The Last 3 Digits’, which won the peoples Festival Best International Film award in Paris, France 2014.

DJ Cuppy.
Born Florence ifeoluwa otedola, DJ cuppy is a Nigerian producer and disc jockey. She is the daughter of Nigerian billionaire Femi Otedola.
Cuppy studied for her GCSE, and A levels in London before she proceeded to Kings College where she graduated with a degree in Business and Economics.
She also pursued a Masters in Music Business at the New York University.
Cuppy was appointed the tourism ambassador for ‘Fascinating Nigeria’s campaign by the Ministry of Tourism.

Born Jidenna Theodore Mobisson, Jidenna is a Nigerian-American rapper, singer and producer. Born to a Nigerian father, Jidenna grew up partially in Nigeria where his father was a Computer Science professor.
After Highschool Jidenna was admitted to Stanford University to pursue a course in sound Engineering but later changed to Arts graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2008. He worked as a full time teacher before he was signed by Janelle Monaes’ 7 Wondaland records.

Bobi wine.
Bobi wine, real name Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu is a Ugandan musician, entrepreneur and politician.
Bobi wine grew up in the slums of Kamwookya before attending Makerere University where he studied music, dance and drama, therefore graduating with a Bachelor of Arts. Besides music, Bobi wine has a ‘convoy’ of other professions namely Boxing and acting where he has starred in Ugandan local movies Binayuganda, Yogera and Situka.
He is also the member of parliament of Kyaddondo east constituency in Central Uganda. He won the seat after a by-election.In February 2018, Bobi wine alongside other leaders enrolled for a course on leadership at Harvard Kennedy school of Government.
