ladies on a mission display their wares openly as they seduce married men with an aim of making short or long term financial gains as one night stands, side chics or mistresses.

Gor Mahia are indisputably Kenya most successful football club locally and continentally with 16  league titles,10 FKF President’s cup and 1 African cup winners cup which is nowadays referred to as CAF confederations cup. Their exploits on the pitch are unquestionable but their behavior off pitch is what keeps tongues wagging for those who aren’t part of this world of football fanaticism that has quickly evolved to a secret society with cultist tendencies.

Growing up at the coast where majority of the population supported coastal teams such as Congo United and Bandari I grew up in a family that supported Gor Mahia so i found myself supporting Gor mahia from birth to date am still a loyal fan.Before I became a full time member of sofa-set branch I used to attend matches played at Mbaraki Sports Stadium and Mombasa County stadium without fail.

Why did I quit attending matches some would ask, like I told you earlier the exploits of the fans off the pitch forced me to watch matches from the comfort of my sofa-set.Here were my reasons;

Drug abuse; wherever Gor Mahia goes to play the economic activities in the region always get a boost be it hotels or wine and spirit outlets, no wonder Machakos county had to uplift the 4 year ban. However alcohol consumption at the terraces during the match is sickening with bhang peddlers selling their contraband openly with little or no respect to the police manning the area, the police on the other hand look the other way. By the time the match is over you are have inhaled unlimited fumes of bhang combined with the stench of alcohol making you a passive drunk.

Sexual immorality; ladies on a mission display their wares openly as they seduce married men with an aim of making short or long term financial gains as one night stands, side chics or mistresses.They aren’t concerned  Sex escapades after the match are a common occurrences since most of the fans are wasted beyond recognition thus aren’t able to make sound decisions.Their jerseys have sexually suggestive names such as ‘Tin to Mit’ meaning small but sweet.This has in turn led to broken marriages and increase in HIV infections amongst fans.Dear ladies and gentlemen kindly avoid any prospective suitor who is part of this travelling party their promiscuity is out of this world.

Vulgar language; The language fans used on the terraces contains a lot of uncensored words towards match officials be it referees or linesmen and players from the rival team. Usually its a mixture of insults and intimidatory tailored to achieve specific goals usually to arm-twist the match officials to favor them.

Seclusion; there is this assumption by a section of Gor mahia fans that all fans are drawn from the Luo ethnic group thus all conversations are in their mother tongue.This makes non-Luo fans to feel secluded and second class fans. Though I learnt some Luo words like ‘Ichieni’ meaning are you bewitched.

Rowdiness; Businessmen are enjoying a period of relative peace since Dylan Kerr took over he hasn’t given a section of goons the chance to go on a looting spree under the pretence of poor results. After consuming everything legal and illegal at the terraces coupled with poor results on the pitch the goons will go on a violent looting spree destroying livelihoods living behind a trail of destruction thank God results are going our way nowadays.

Uncouth Behavior; intimidating and harassing motorist along highways as they hang out dangerously from windows of hired,over speeding public service minibuses en-route to match venues. This behavior has taken root to the extent that fans aren’t learning lessons from deaths of other fans.

What have always failed to understand is how a fan who is struggling to provide for his family as he can’t make ends meet is able to be part of the travelling party week in week out, is it a case of football love,addiction or cultism.
